During my life of now 40 years, I have endured some pretty heavy “crosses”, yet I have also savored the most fruitful blessings that were transformed in the fire of the trial. I remember as a child answering the land line telephone in the late 80s and 90s and hearing cold callers ask to speak to Mr. or Mrs. “Cross”. I always got upset thinking I was being referred to as a person whose name represents a “problem” and “something that killed Jesus” by this total stranger on the phone. Thinking back to that memory, I had met a person in Catholic high school who wore the last name “Cross” with a kind heart and encouraging spirit.
Now I find myself reflecting on the cross and its meaning in my life, just after Easter Sunday. I am carrying a few pretty solid crosses still, and I am so grateful for the blessings of love from my friends and family. I encourage all visitors of this site to share their stories, big and small, about something you felt was impossible but led to an unexpected blessing. Have a blessed day, everyone! I pray that your cross be light and the blessings are bright!
